On December 8, 2024, Taoyuan American School transformed into a winter wonderland for our annual Christmas Bazaar and International Cultural Fair. This much-loved tradition brought together students, staff, parents, and guests for a day filled with festive cheer, cultural appreciation, and community connection.
The day began with an impressive showcase of our students' talents. Performers from grades 1-7 delighted the audience with a variety of acts, including traditional Christmas carols, modern dance routines, and captivating instrumental pieces. The Elementary Student Council played a key role in hosting this wonderful display, setting the tone for a fun and eventful day.
During the opening ceremony, the PTA President Ms. Pu, and School Principal Dr. Shiue delivered heartfelt speeches that reflected the true meaning of the holiday season. They emphasized how this event is not just a time to celebrate but also an opportunity to give back. As part of this commitment, we are thrilled to announce that 20% of the proceeds from the Christmas bazaar will be donated to the Eden Social Welfare Foundation, supporting their important work in our community.
The Christmas bazaar was a lively highlight of the day, showcasing the creativity and dedication of our students. Elementary students took the lead in running games and different stations, which was very engaging for visitors of all ages. From classic carnival games to innovative challenges, each booth brought excitement, fun, and fantastic prizes.
Food lovers were treated to an international feast at the cultural food court, featuring dishes from nine countries: the United States, Canada, France, India, the Philippines, Honduras, Japan, Thailand, and Korea. Guests enjoyed authentic flavors while learning about the culinary traditions behind them—a celebration of the diversity within our school community.
The excitement peaked during the raffle drawing, which featured an incredible 138 prizes generously donated by parents, corporate partners, and local businesses. The drawing created an electric atmosphere, with families and friends cheering as winners were announced. From educational tools to electronic gadgets, the prizes added an extra layer of joy to the festivities.
Of course, no Christmas celebration would be complete without a visit from Santa Claus! Santa made a grand entrance, bringing smiles to our youngest attendees as he handed out candy canes and small gifts. Families captured this magical moment with photos, creating cherished memories to last a lifetime.
This year’s Christmas celebration was a shining example of what makes TYAS special—a strong sense of community, a dedication to cultural appreciation, and a shared commitment to giving back. Thank you to everyone who contributed to making this event such a success. The 2024 TYAS Christmas Celebration and International Cultural Festival will undoubtedly be remembered as one of the highlights of the year!
